According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2006 over 22 million individuals have a substance dependence or abuse problem in the US.

More than 100,000 US deaths are caused by excessive alcohol consumption each year.

In the US every 30 minutes someone is killed in an alcohol related traffic accident.

Americans spend over $90 billion total on alcohol each year.

Pregnant women who drink are feeding alcohol to their babies. Unfortunately, the undeveloped liver of the baby can only burn alcohol at half the rate of its mother, so the alcohol stays in the baby's system twice as long.

Alcohol and alcohol related problems cost the American economy at least $100 million in health care and loss of productivity every year.
